ThiruMundeeswaram – Sri Marutheswarar Temple


ThiruMundeeswaram is located in Villupuram (near Chennai). This place is now called Grammam and located at 3kms from Thiruvennainallur on the state way from Thiruvennainallur to GST road joining at Arasur.

This place is located on the southern bank of the Pennar River. This small village is having very old Sivan temple called Sivaloganathar.

This is the 51st Shrine and 19th temple of Nadu nadu. Appar has sung hymns in praise of Lord Shiva of this temple.

Lord called as Sivalokanathar or Mundeeswarar and mother called as Soundaryanayaki.

Thindi and Mundi(security of Lord Shiva) had worshipped Lord in this temple, hence named Thirumundeeswaram.
