Thirumaalpur – Manikandeswarar Temple

This is an ancient padal petra sthalam by Thirunavukkarasar as well as Gnanasambandar. It is a place where Lord Vishnu prayed to Lord shiva to obtain his Chakra. Since perumal also prayed to Shiva here Garudaseva is also a famous festival here. Vishnu (called Tirumal) is believed to have worshipped Shiva in this temple and hence the name Thirumalpur.

The temple is situated on the Kancheepuram to Arrakonam route. It is approximately 13 Kilometres from Arrakonam. From Kancheepuram it is approximately 17 Kilometres.
